Making solar mainstream
This week marks the completion of a new and unique full service solar service that I helped build and develop for nearly a year with one of the largest global retailers in the world.
Today the millions of British shoppers visiting 1 of the 18 IKEA stores can now touch, feel, and understand why it makes more sense to invest in solar than putting money in your savings account or even an ISA. Plus as energy prices continue to rise it’s almost a no brainer to get free electricity from the sun and future proof your roof.
With a full solar installation service now available in IKEA, I see this as really just the beginning for changing the face of solar what solar can do you any consumer and ultimately providing more power to the people in the end. The message can’t be any clearer that the time for energy independence is NOW.
Today, the UK has just over 500,000 solar homes nationwide. Traditionally the industry was set up perfectly for the small % of homeowners who potentially wanted to go solar and could afford to do so. But really, who can guess how many homeowners were realistically looking? Some could argue only 5% of the population.
Now by allowing more shoppers to pass and interact with solar in a way they haven’t before as well as offering an affordable package is starting to changing the mind-set of the British public. Bring solar to the many, then as awareness improves from shopfront to solar street, the potential for tripling or quadrupling the number of solar homes in potentially 3-4 years time is quite feasible.
It’s really an exciting time to put homeowners in control of saving on their energy bills and I am proud to a part of an incredible team that is promoting the power of good.
