Sharing is caring…right?
I heart Kickstarter, Zipcar, Airbnb, The Hub, Swishing, Green Metropolis, Zopa
The best thing about all of these products and services on offer
a. people
b. sharing
The power of the collaboration these companies have unlocked a couple years back is now becoming a proof point among how the ‘switched on’ generation is growing.
It’s certainly heading in the direction shared ownership. You want access but don’t want to own a car, or you own a house or flat but don’t live in it all the time. When it comes to space, ideas, other people’s treasure’s it’s obvious why these companies are on a steady growth trajectory upwards. The behaviour of the ‘switched on’ generation is changing.
There’s more to the story though. The shared economy is helping bring together the importance of using resources wisely and more sustainably. In a couple years it will only prove to create more positive outcomes for good. The shared movement will provide bigger rewards for those crowd-pleasing companies that sell more because they will be better at lowering costs, waste, improving the environment and generating a bit of social capital for good. One day this may be the only way forward.
So the old adage – ‘Sharing is caring’ carries through to better business practices and certainly for the greater good. I vote for everyone doing more by owning less!
